Officers say they were called to the area of 6 Avenue SE and 4 Street SE around 1:20 a.m. Tuesday for reports of a man in medical distress on the sidewalk.

When they got there, they found the man in his late 20s or early 30s with serious injuries.

The man has not been identified and it’s unclear what led to his death, however, it appears as though he died after a fight. Police called it a “fatal altercation.”

If investigators deem this death a homicide, it will be the city’s 23rd this year and the second in three days.

An autopsy is set for Thursday to determine the cause of death and identify the man who died.
