The Government of Alberta is looking for more foster parents to give a “stable, loving home” to children under its care through the “Just Like You” campaign.
The campaign is aiming to add 100 more foster placements over the next year.
“I have heard from Children in care about what a huge difference one person or one family can make. By becoming a foster parent, you could make a positive change that impacts a child’s life, and in turn future generations,” said Mickey Amery, Minister of Children’s Services.
“Help provide temporary care for children and youth in need, in a healthy, nurturing environment,” reads a tweet from the Alberta Government.

Meanwhile, the government’s website says age is not important to foster a child. Also, people who are single, have a partner, have kids, or have no kids, are welcome to foster children.
“You can be 20, 35, or 70 – age is just a number,” the website says.
“It does not matter if you live in a city, small town, or in the country.”
The government adds there is also a need for foster parents with medical training to care for children with medical needs.
“Children all over Alberta are in need of a safe place to temporarily call home. Becoming a foster parent provides the unique opportunity to support families in need,” said Monique McCardle, president of Calgary and District Foster parents Association and foster parent.
“Not only can you impact a child’s life, but an entire family’s life.”
Part-time fostering is also available.
