Calgary police seek additional driver in hit and run of 10-year-old

Calgary police say some progress has been made in the investigation of a hit-and-run that left a 10-year-old boy with serious injuries, but more information is needed from an additional source to determine what happened.

On Friday, June 23, around 8:30 p.m., a blue Dodge Ram truck pulling a utility trailer was going east on Savanna Boulevard NE.

At the same time, a young boy was riding an electric scooter along Savanna Boulevard in the same direction as the truck. He was then struck near the intersection of Savanna Gardens.

The driver of the truck didn’t stop or remain at the scene following the incident.

Police explain that after the boy was hit, Good Samaritans assisted him on the walk home, where emergency medical services later arrived.

The boy was then transported to hospital in serious condition, and since then, his condition has improved, and he is now recovering at home.

Investigators say that tips from the public following the incident have led them to the Dodge Ram pick-up truck believed to be involved.

They add that the driver is co-operating with police, and the investigation into the collision is ongoing.

No charges have been laid at this time, according to police.

Authorities say they are now looking for the driver of another vehicle they believe was travelling behind the pick-up at the time of the incident. Police say the driver may have witnessed or have important information related to the incident.

They are looking to talk to the driver of a vehicle described as a black, four-door sedan, believed to be a Chrysler 200.

Anyone who saw the incident or may have dashcam footage is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
