Calgary police are looking for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman in the southwest in Sunday’s early hours.
Investigators say around 1:15 a.m. on March 10, a woman was waiting at a bus stop on 37 Street SW between 26 Avenue and 28 Avenue when she was approached by a man she didn’t know.
The man had a crowbar and demanded the woman follow him behind a nearby business, where he physically and sexually assaulted her, according to police.
A neighbour heard the victim’s calls for help and interrupted the assault, investigators say, and the suspect left the scene on foot.
The Good Samaritan called police and the woman was taken to hospital.
Officers searched the area but weren’t able to find the suspect.
He is described as a slim, white man, around 5’11″tall, with short hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and light blue jeans, police say.
Investigators are also in the process of collecting CCTV from the area, and are asking any residents or businesses in the area with cameras to contact police at 403-266-1234 or anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
