What’s going on in Calgary this weekend

The Calgary Black Film Festival is back, aiming to spread inclusion and diversity, both in front and behind the camera. Henna Saeed takes us on a tour of the red carpet event and hears about the struggles those behind the camera face.

After a cold and wet week we are heading into a cold and wet weekend — the good news is there are a ton of fun indoor events happening around Calgary this weekend for people to check out.

Calgary Black Film Festival

The 4th Calgary Black Film Festival kicks off Friday and opens with Manuela Dalle’s DANCING IN A-YARD + 35 Films from Around the Globe.

GlobalFest OneWorld Performances

GlobalFest OneWorld features traditional and diverse dance performances.

It’s happening at Sunridge Mall on Saturday from 12 to 8 p.m. and again at Marlborough Mall on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. More details available here.

Vintage Redefined Market

Vintage Redefine is an indoor event and offers attendees a chance to browse and shop antiques, vintage clothing, furniture, jewelry and more.

It’s happening Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Acadia Recreation Complex. Tickets are $5 with kids 16 and under getting in free. More information available here.

The Barn Artisan Market

The Barn Artisan Market will take over the historic Shawnessy Barn in southwest Calgary on Sunday.

It features two floors of local vendors, crafters, creators and makers. Admission and parking are free and there will be food trucks on-site.

Locked Zoo – Polar Pursuit

If you like escape rooms — the Locked Zoo – Polar Pursuit is a two-hour escape gam at the Calgary Zoo that will take people on wild journey through the zoo after hours.

Those playing will search for hidden clues, solve puzzles, and unlock secrets to escape before time runs out.

It’s an adult-only event and it’s happening Saturday, starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $50 and more details can be found here.

Calaway Park

If you’re willing to venture outdoors and looking for something to do with the kids — Calaway Park is now open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
