Man threatened outside NE temple, two arrested: Calgary police

Calgary police seized several firearms and arrested two men after multiple calls about a man being threatened at a Sikh temple in Calgary’s northeast last week.

Staff Sgt. John Guigon tells CityNews the call came in just before 8 p.m. on Sept. 24, reporting an incident at the Dashmesh Cultural Centre at 135 Martindale Boulevard NE.

Two men were arrested and the multiple guns seized at the scene were obtained illegally, according to police.

“Two men were brandishing firearms in the parking lot,” Guigon explained. “We did recover several firearms and two men are facing charges.

“We are also investigating several other incidents that have been reported.”

Guigon says the victim, who wasn’t injured, knew the men arrested.

The reason behind the incident is still under investigation.

However, Guigon says the pair facing charges are known to police.
