5-year-old girl dies at Alberta lake after canoe overturned: RCMP

Alberta RCMP say a five-year-old girl was found dead after a canoe overturned at a lake west of Edmonton Sunday.
Police say reports came in for a capsized watercraft on Wabamun Lake just before 3 p.m.
They say the girl was pulled from the water by nearby bystanders before police and emergency crews arrived.
However, despite life-saving efforts, police say STARS and EMS pronounced her dead at the scene.
A second person, a 35-year-old woman, was also pulled from the water by a watercraft in the area. Her condition remained unknown by Sunday night.
Police say the chief medical examiner has been called in and the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities add part of the investigation is to determine if personal floatation devices were on board the canoe.
