Suspected dealer charged in gun, drug seizure from SE Calgary apartment

A suspected drug dealer in Calgary is facing multiple charges… after police say about 320-thousand dollars worth of drugs and handguns were seized from a home in the city's southeast.

A suspected Calgary drug dealer is facing charges after multiple guns and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of drugs were seized from their apartment.

Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) Calgary’s organized crime team seized the items last month from a home in the southeast neighbourhood of Seton.

Items seized by officers include three loaded handguns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, more than 2,000 grams of both cocaine and methamphetamine, and $51,000 cash.

The firearms will be sent to ALERT’s Provincial Firearms Lab for further ballistics testing and analysis.

Police say two of the guns were previously reported stolen from Redcliff and Pincher Creek.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $320,000.

ALERT says the suspect has a lifetime firearms ban due to a previous conviction for drug-related offences.

Kay-Jay Swann is now facing several charges, including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and multiple firearms-related offences.

Swann has been under investigation by ALERT for suspected drug trafficking since April.

Members of the public who suspect drug or gang activity in their community are encouraged to call local police or Crime Stoppers.
