Suspect sought after 11-year-old girl sexually assaulted on Calgary bus

CPS say the victim was riding the bus with family members when an unknown man sat beside her and allegedly inappropriately touched her.

Police are searching for a suspect after a young girl was sexually assaulted on a city bus last month.

Calgary police an 11-year-old girl boarded a Calgary Transit bus with two family members between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on May 25.

An unknown man boarded the bus at the same time and sat beside the girl, according to police.

It is alleged the man touched the girl inappropriately during the ride. The girl later told an adult at her school, who proceeded to contact police.

The girl is now receiving support from the LUNA Child & Youth Advocacy Centre.

“Our Child Abuse Unit launched an investigation and after following all investigative leads, are now turning to the public in hopes of identifying the suspect,” reads a release from Calgary police.

The suspect is described as around 30 to 35 years old with a small amount of facial hair and a bald head. He was last seen wearing a navy-blue jacket, a white patterned shirt and jeans.

Police believe the suspect frequents the Calgary Transit system.
