Train service resumes after man fatally hit by CTrain in SW Calgary

A man is dead after being hit by a CTrain in Calgary’s southwest overnight, police say.

Officers were called to the Canyon Meadows CTrain Station at 416 Cantrell Drive SW just after 2 a.m. for reports an unidentified man had been hit by a train.

Police say he died from his injuries on scene.

Train service at Canyon Meadows Station was disrupted for more than five hours. Shuttle buses were used to transport riders from Fish Creek and Anderson Stations.

Calgary police reopened the station around 7:30 a.m.

Investigators now say the incident was not criminal in nature and no further information will be released.
