A pedestrian is in hospital in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in Calgary’s Beltline Wednesday night.
Calgary police say it happened just after 10 p.m. in the area of 17 Avenue and 5 Street SW.
Investigators believe a 2012 Ford F150, driven by a 23-year-old man, was travelling east in the left lane on 17 Avenue SW near 5 Street SW.
At the same time, an 18-year-old man was walking south across 17 Avenue near 5 Street and entered the path of the truck before being hit.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and wasn’t hurt.
Excessive speed, drugs, or alcohol aren’t considered to be contributing factors on the part of the driver, police say.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage related to this incident is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
