Officers seized several guns and $17,000 worth of drugs after arresting a woman found asleep in her car in the southeast Calgary area of Prestwick.
It happened on Aug. 11 at around 3:40 a.m., when police received reports of a “suspected car” driving around the 1100 block of Prestwick Close SE.
While searching the area, officers say they found a vehicle with a mismatched license plate and a sleeping woman in the back seat. They arrested her, determining she was “in breach of release conditions.”
Police seized a Churchill shotgun and shells, a replica handgun, a “conducted energy weapon,” 147.5 grams of fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, a couple of cellphones, and several items they believe were stolen.

The woman, 26-year-old Samara Maria Astalnok, faces 13 charges that include possession of a prohibited and unlicensed weapon, careless storage of a firearm, tampering with a firearm’s serial number, failure to comply with a release order, and four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
She will appear in court on Aug. 27.
