Ryan Huska will be sticking around as the bench boss of the Calgary Flames.
The Flames signed the head coach to a two-year contract extension on Thursday, the team announced.
Huska is now under contract through the 2027-28 season.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this team and to build on the foundation we’ve started,” Huska said in a statement. “I believe in this group, in their character, talent, and potential. I’m excited about the direction we are heading. I want to thank Craig, the ownership, and the entire organization for their trust and support. We are committed to pushing forward and bringing success back to Calgary.”

Huska is heading into his third season as the Flames’ head coach. In his first two seasons at the helm, the 50-year-old coach led the Flames to a 79-66-19 record.
Last season, Huska helped the Flames make a surprising playoff push that finished just one point short.
“We’re thrilled to extend Ryan for two more years,” Flames GM Craig Conroy said in a statement. “He’s done an excellent job creating a strong culture in our room and helping our team take steps in the right direction. His communication, work ethic, and commitment to developing our players have been outstanding. We believe in his vision and are confident he’s the right coach to lead us forward.”
Huska has been with the Flames organization since 2014-15 when he was hired as head coach of Calgary’s AHL affiliate.
He was then hired as an assistant coach of the Flames in 2018 and spent five seasons in that role before taking over the head-coaching gig from Darryl Sutter in June 2023.
