Downtown Calgary Red Line CTrain back online, Blue Line to NE still down

A power outage has led to a major disruption to CTrain service through the downtown core on Friday afternoon. Calgary Transit says trains are currently unable to operate along 7 Avenue after a vehicle struck an electrical power switch.

Calgary Transit’s CTrain Red Line is back online in the downtown core after a power outage Friday, but the Blue Line to and from the northeast remains on shuttle service Saturday.

The Red Line westbound and Blue Line came back online at around 8:45 p.m.

Calgary Transit says the Blue Line is on shuttle service between City Hall and Bridgeland stations.

Riders taking the Blue Line are advised to look for the buses at 9 Avenue for travel to the northeast. Trains from the northeast will end and begin at the Bridgeland Station.

Calgary Transit say the outage happened after a vehicle struck an electrical power switch. Disruptions began shortly after 2 p.m.

Shuttle buses will be available at these terminal stations within the bus loop for passengers wishing to continue through the downtown Core.

Commuters are encouraged to check Calgary Transit’s social media and website for the latest information.
