The city is spending close to $30 million in another round of awards to help build more than 560 new homes in Calgary, officials announced Wednesday.

The second and final round of the Housing Capital Initiative (HCI) has awarded six non-profits for eight non-market housing projects.

They include the Trellis Foundation for Community Impact, Liberty Housing Organization, Norfolk Housing Association, HomeSpace Society, and Onward Homes Society.

The round two projects span a range of housing types, models and neighbourhoods, including downtown, the inner city in the southwest and northwest, Bowness Road, Skyview Ranch NE, Haddon Road SW, and Radcliffe Drive SE.

Combining the projects announced in May 2025 under round one and round two, the city’s total capital investment through the HCI is up to $60 million.

“Increasing non-market housing supply is a top priority for this City Council and for Calgarians,” Mayor Jeromy Farkas said in a release.

The HCI fund was announced in 2024 to allow charities, non-profits and Indigenous organizations to build or acquire affordable housing projects while leveraging funding from the province and federal governments.

It is intended to increase urgently needed non-market housing supply in Calgary by delivering timely capital investment in housing projects.

The initiative is one of 98 actions of the city’s housing strategy.
