Cranston sinkhole repaired after water leak

A massive sinkhole that opened up on a road in Calgary’s southeast community of Cranston last week is no more.

Ward 12 Coun. Evan Spencer tweeted Tuesday that the area at Cranston Boulevard and Cranston Drive has reopened to traffic after necessary repairs were completed on the roadway.

The city’s water services officials determined the erosion was due to an underground water leak coming from a broken drain valve in a nearby park.

Spencer added that no further issues have been found in the area following an investigation.
