Man found dead at NE Calgary hotel identified; death ruled a homicide

The victim of the suspicious death at the Emerald Hotel in Sunridge has been identified.

Police have identified a man found dead at a northeast Calgary hotel over the weekend and have ruled his death a homicide.

Emergency crews were called to the Emerald Hotel and Suites near Sunridge Blvd and 26 Street NE around 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, for reports of someone in medical distress.

When officers arrived, they found a man dead inside the hotel. His death was considered suspicious.

After completing an autopsy on Tuesday, police have ruled the death a homicide. The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Jerry Wayne Bull.

One person was taken into custody at the scene. They remain in custody on unrelated warrants and are not charged in connection to the man’s death.
