BRT continues to make waves with city council

It was a hot-button issue for some councillors during the recent election, and now it’s been put to bed.
The Bus Rapid Transit lane is already in phase one of construction and is being installed up 14 St S.W.
It has faced a barrage of opposition from some area residents who believe the cost is not worth the benefits.
Jeromy Farkas ran on trying to ditch the project, and won the councillor seat in Ward 11.
He and Diane Colley-Urquhart sponsored a motion to pause the project, and do further study before accepting a bid on phase two of the project.
However, Colley-Urquhart wasn’t even at Monday’s council meeting to vote.
The motion was overturned easily 11-3 with Farkas, Sean Chu and Joe Magliocca the only ones to support pausing the project.
Farkas said he’ll be committed to ensuring the project stays on time and on budget every step of the way.
