Hitmen slip past Kelowna Rockets in OT 6-5

Kelowna, BC – Calgary Hitmen scored just over two minutes into overtime thanks to Josh Prokop, to beat the Kelowna Rockets on Family Day Monday afternoon at Prospera Place.
Calgary came back from a 5-1 deficit heading to the third period.
The Hitmen would force the extra period when Carson Focht scored the equalizer with 1:35 remaining.
It would be Focht’s 30th of the season, and second of the game.
Kyle Olson also supplied a pair of markers in the third period while forward Riley Fiddler-Schultz tallied the other Calgary goal back in the second period.
Goalie Jack McNaughton came off the bench to make four saves in the third period and three more in overtime to pick up the win as Calgary outshot Kelowna 38-29.
The Hitmen are now 2-0 on their five-game B.C. Division road trip, and improve to 9-3 in their last 12 outings.
Matthew Wedman and Alex Swetlifoff led the Kelowna attack with a goal and an assist while Conner McDonald, Ethan Ernst and Dillon Hamaliuk also scored.
Calgary continues the road trip Wednesday, Feb. 19 on Vancouver Island against the Victoria Royals.
Hitmen will then head to Langley to face Vancouver (Feb. 21) before wrapping up the trip in Kamloops (Feb. 22).
