WestJet suspending all commercial operations

CALGARY – WestJet has announced the suspension of commercial operations for all international and trans-border flights as a result of COVID-19.

The suspension will kick in Mar. 22 at 11:59 P.M. MDT and last for 30 days.

Starting Mar. 18. the airline says they will be suspending all outbound international ticket sales for travel until the 22nd.

WestJet says after Sunday, they will be operating rescue and repatriation flights together with the federal government.

The airline is also reducing its domestic schedule by 50 per cent.

A release from WestJet says, “While this is a difficult time, we now have the responsibility as a Canadian airline to bring our citizens home.”
