Calgary police charge teenager with counsel to commit murder

By CityNews Staff

Calgary police say they’ve charged a teenager after they allegedly attempted to hire someone to murder another teenager.

Police say the 16-year-old was arrested on Tuesday. They were charged with counsel to commit murder, breach of a court order and possession of marijuana.

CPS say their investigation started on May 13, 2022 when they received a complaint from someone that the teen had asked them to murder another young person in exchange for payment.

“This is a very serious and disturbing incident,” said Staff Sgt. Colin Chisholm. “We are thankful police were notified and could investigate before anything tragic happened.”

The accused, who can’t be identified, is to appear in court Wednesday.
