Calgary police: Man charged with October hit and run

A Calgary man is facing charges related to a hit and run that left a teen seriously hurt in October of last year, police say.

Richard Blanchet, a 40-year-old man, has been charged with “one count of failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm.”

Police say on Oct. 17, a 17-year-old pedestrian, Brandon Taylor, was crossing 16 Avenue NW at the intersection of 46 Street NW, when he was allegedly struck by a white SUV.

The crosswalk signal was activated when the victim was crossing, and the driver of the SUV did not stop and drove away, according to police.

The victim was taken to hospital. He is still recovering at home.
