Portion of CTrain Red Line to shut down this weekend

The City says the red line will be closed between Sunnyside and University stations all day Saturday and Sunday, and shuttle busses will be operating.

A heads up for Calgary commuters, a portion of the CTrain Red Line will be shut down this weekend.

Calgary Transit says the Red Line will be closed between Sunnyside to University stations on Saturday and Sunday.

Trains coming from the south will end at Sunnyside, and trains coming from the northwest will end at University.

Shuttle buses will be running between Sunnyside and Brentwood stations. Anyone travelling southbound trying to get to University station can stay on the train at Brentwood.

The closed portion of the line will reopen on Monday morning.

Calgary Transit says the closure is for preventative work and maintenance.

“Some work can be completed while keeping the trains on track, but there are certain projects that are just too big, or can’t share the space safely while trains are in service, and they require fully closing off sections of the line,” the transit agency says.

The weekend work will include maintenance on the +15 pedestrian bridge at SAIT, the Crowchild Trail tunnel, and other track work.
