1 stabbed outside shisha lounge in downtown Calgary

Calgary police are investigating a stabbing outside a bar on 8 Avenue SW early Friday morning. There have been several other violent incidents in that area "after hours". Joel Mendelson reports.

One person is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in downtown Calgary early Friday morning.

Calgary police say it happened just before 2:30 a.m. outside a shisha lounge near 8 Street and 8 Avenue SW.

The victim is described as a man in his 20s.

He was taken to hospital by first responders with non-life threatening injuries.

Police haven’t made any arrests and don’t have a description of the suspect.

Investigators also say there is no information about motive and it’s not known if the suspect and victim knew each other.

Officers are working to gather surveillance footage from the area.
