Alberta Sheriffs shut down Calgary drug house after nearly 150 complaints

Alberta Sheriffs have closed a southeast Calgary property following nearly two years of investigation into ongoing drug and criminal activity.

The Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) unit obtained a court order against the owner of a home along 41st Street SE in the community of Forest Lawn, after residents filed 148 complaints with Calgary police.

Neighbours reported constant foot traffic at all hours and suspected drug use and trafficking taking place on the premises.

Since February 2024, the SCAN unit has been investigating the property, which sits near two playgrounds and an elementary school.

Officials say the location had become a focal point for community concerns, with residents repeatedly raising alarms about safety and criminal activity.

Under the court order, the property will be closed for 90 days. All individuals, including the property owner, must vacate the premises during that time.
