Calgary police are looking for a woman wanted on 17 charges in connection to a “grandparent scam.”
Officers say 45-year-old Alana Love Duncan is wanted on warrants that include possessing counterfeit money, possessing stolen property, defrauding a person over $5,000, failing to appear in court, and “other offences.”
They allege the suspect claimed to be a loved one of a senior and would tell them she was in trouble and in need of cash.
She is described as being around 5’4″ tall, 170 pounds, with a medium build, black hair, and green eyes.
Police say reports they receive from victims state that scammers would call or text them pretending to be a loved one and say they have been arrested. They then request cash for bail, and often, the amount is thousands of dollars.

Investigators ask Calgarians who suspect they could be speaking with a scammer claiming to be a loved one in custody to ask for a case number, then to call police or their local law enforcement agency to have the case number confirmed.
They also say not to take any phone number by the scammer to call.

Police ask anyone with information about the whereabouts of Duncan to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
