CALGARY (660 NEWS) — A woman who tragically died in the Bow River last week has been identified by family.
Linda Kilfoyle died Thursday afternoon after she went into the frigid waters while walking her dog.
The Calgary Fire Department and Calgary police said they were called to Ogden Rd. and 42 Ave. SE around 2:00 p.m. for reports someone had fallen into the river.
When they arrived, they found a parked car, footsteps leading to the riverbank, and a dog wandering alone on the ice.
The dog was brought safely away from the water and another dog was found in the water downstream and also taken to the shore unharmed. Both animals are now in a shelter.
Kilfoyle’s body was then pulled from the river further south, just past Glenmore Trail.
A Facebook post from one of her relatives said the family is still processing the news and ask for privacy. An obituary added that Kilfoyle will be remembered for her love of family, friends, animals and adventures.
Condolences have also been pouring in from friends and loved ones on her Facebook page.
She is survived by four siblings, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Kilfoyle also was on the TV show Dragon’s Den in 2012 to show off her dog door invention.
